If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14

In chapter 6 of 2 Chronicles, Solomon's prayer is that the Lord would remember His promises in the future just as His promises in the past had been fulfilled in the building of the temple. In verse 16, Solomon restates God's promise to David and the condition for that promise was obedience.

As Christians we are to intercede for others, not just individuals but for groups.  The Old Testament is filled with examples of how the leaders prayed for cities and nations.  Abraham successfully interceded for a city in Genesis 18:22-33.  Moses for a nation in Exodus 32:9-14. And even the exiles from Jerusalem were told to intercede for the cities they now lived in, Jeremiah 29:7.   We are told in in 2 Chronicles 7:14 that our prayers and lifestyles can cause healing for a nation, or a city.

So without question if we will only humble ourselves before God, and take heed to the stipulations that God lays down for a nation to experience His blessing, "cease from our sins, turn from living proud, self-centered lives, and pray to the Lord and yield our own desires to His will", then, He will send revival to our land.

Are you ready to walk in your calling as a Christian to be an intercessor?  To represent Jesus, and to tell about His benefits and His victories?

Then as you pray today, ask God to reveal Himself to you, to show you what you need to confess or align with His will, so you can hear Him tell you how to pray for our city, our community, and who to pray for.
