To our sons (and Daughters) as a father, I ask that you pay attention and gain understanding, I want you to get sound teaching not for what you can learn not from my experiences, so that you can see the wisdom I have had in my life to make your better.
“Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live.” - v4
This is to embrace with all understand the work of our Heavenly Fathers, desires when you have relationship with Him. Seeing that the working being has to start with that and yes it may seem hard but as you do your rewards will outlast the conflict or suffering you may in your journey.
By holding on to the truth of wisdom you will find that your protection will come, exalting you, embracing you, and honor you with the gift of GRACE. This grace will help you make it as to keep focused on the path of life which may not always be straight. Carefully examine your attitudes and feeling on the pathway you’re on by where your mind (thoughts), speak your words (your lips), and guard your eyes (sight), which causes you to examine your HEART and insure that your relationship with the Father is at place it needs to be and do all needed to regain your focus where it needs to be and cause you to have great wisdom of the Lord in your life.
As a father I have not always done right or instructed my children due to my heart relationship has not been correct with Heavenly Father and I need to repent, for stumbling on my path due to traveling the wick or evil path, where I had not listened to my heart when it was speaking. I think of times I missed it due to not building the UPWARD relationship with my Father above, so take hold my sons (daughters) to see the importance of looking up and focus upwardly on your Heavenly Father for your strength, direction and this will keep you from a path you did not want to go down. Your heart and path will be PREFECTED by seeking WISDOM, for you will see that your heart will be a battle ground. Knowing God want most of all is your WHOLE HEART.
So how is your heart for wisdom? Which path are you seeking wisdom? Remember the examples of your fathers and look upward for the wisdom of your Heavenly Father who is seeking your whole HEART…. Then your will be seeking the ultimate WISDOM……

I’m a runner. It’s one of the first ways I and those who know me identify me. When I see the word “run”, I perk up a little. In fact, my word for the year is run, not as in the physical aspect but in the spiritual aspect….to run the race marked out for me (Hebrews 12:1) and in such a way as to get the prize (I Corinthians 9:24). So, when I read Proverbs 4 and saw the word “run” I took note.
“I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in the right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, and when you run, you will not stumble. Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.” Proverbs 4:10-13
Wisdom is available to us. We just have to ask for it. We can find it in God’s word. We have the Holy Spirit in us. We have fellow believers. He leads us on the right paths, and we have what we need. So whether we are walking patiently on a journey He has placed us or we’re running full speed ahead in a direction He is telling us to go, we can be sure that He will lead us there safely.
Yet don’t miss that final verse: “take firm hold of instruction”. This wisdom, this guidance, is our lifeline. On Sunday, Pastor Jason said wisdom is our protection and that it brings a better type of life. But we have to hold onto it. We have to grab it and not let it go.
Let’s go back to running for a minute. As a runner, one of the most important things for me is a good pair of running shoes. They can make or break how well I “survive” my workout. They protect my feet. Good shoes give me a better running experience. So it is with wisdom, our protection, our lifeline. Wisdom helps us navigate the rocky paths. Wisdom helps us endure the obstacles life puts before us. Wisdom carries us to the mountaintops and supports us in the valley. If my shoes are on securely, I can walk through muddy trails without them coming off. And so it is with wisdom….if I’m holding firmly, I can get through those rough patches by staying connected to the Lord. Wisdom keeps me on the right path.
The next time I lace up for my morning run, I’m going to consider how I’m choosing wisdom in my life and where I need to take firm hold of it.
How about you? Will you join me today and choose to take hold of wisdom and run where He’s leading?
