Missions Strategy

We follow Jesus by Loving God, Loving One Another, and Serving the World.

Our Missions Strategy

We are supporting multiple long-term mission projects around the world that promote evangelism and community development. We support them with consistent, long-term financial investment and by sending teams of volunteers to help their efforts.

Become A Part Of What God Is Doing

Giving back is something that God has called us to do. It will look different for each individual as God makes clear the gifts he has equipped each of us with.

You may be able to go on a short term missions trip, donate to a team or individual wanting to have the opportunity to go, volunteer your time at one of the ministries here in Shelbyville, or powerfully pray for people to come in contact with the truth of who God is.

We want to connect you with opportunities that will not only encourage you, but show you the reality of what it means to be light in a world full of darkness. God has called each of us to Love Him, Love One Another, and Serve the World.

Our Partner Ministries

We are a faith-based, apartment complex ministry in Atlanta, Georgia with a mission to Educate, Inspire, and Transform our community in Christ's name.

World Renewal International (WRI) exists to help national churches around the world fulfill the Great Commission.  We do this by developing leaders and congregations who are Spirit-filled, self-sustaining, and self-reproducing.

We believe children build our tomorrow. We are committed to working with local churches to LEND: provide Love, Education, Nutrition, and Direction, to our future—these precious children, often overlooked in their poverty.

Partnering with Ali Brunner and MY TOWNE Ministries in Atlanta, GA

Background

After working in a Latino neighborhood for a couple of years, but living elsewhere, Ali felt called to something deeper. "Why do I minister to these families during my 'work hours' but then go home at the end of the day?  I felt called to live in the same neighborhood I was ministering in; even more, the same apartment complex. If I was trying to reach the children and their families, how much more of an impact could I make if I was their neighbor every day of the year and not just during work hours."

So She moved.

Ali moved into the apartment complex that she came to love and became a neighbor to some wonderful people. Her living room is a classroom; Yes, a full on classroom with posters, a dry erase board, books, a calendar and even an ABC chart. Life and ministry happen in Ali's living room. Elementary students are tutored, adults learn English, toddlers and moms learn and grow together, teens enjoy fellowship and they dream together about our community's future.

Support

SCC regularly supports My Towne and Ali Brunner. We wholeheartedly believe that our partnership in Atlanta is just as important as the ministry in Shelbyville. If you're interested in supporting the work happening in Atlanta please consider giving directly to them.

Partnering with Experience Mission to help rebuild Houston, Texas.

Imagine losing everything in your home—not just furniture, clothing, and vehicles but also memories like family photos, childhood toys or a favorite book. This is exactly what thousands of families in Houston and surrounding coastal communities experienced when Hurricane Harvey smashed into Texas in August 2017.

The total damage from the hurricane is estimated at $198 billion, making it the costliest hurricane ever in the United States. In a four-day period, many areas received more than 40 inches of rain as the system stalled over eastern Texas, causing catastrophic flooding. The resulting floods inundated hundreds of thousands of homes and displaced more than 30,000 people

As you watched the news, you might have felt compassion for families and wondered how you could help the disaster relief efforts.

We're offering a practical way that you can help those affected by Harvey. Shelbyville Community Church is offering a hurricane relief trip over spring break in 2018. We'll be working with experience mission to help families rebuild their homes.

Trip Dates: March 24-31, 2018
Trip Cost: $600

Background

Pastor Assuerio Naque and his family in 1997, along with three families from the Carpina congregation, established Paudalho Community Church. God began to bless their efforts and the congregation began to grow. “Living Stones”, the sponsorship of children of parents with a life-altering problem, began in August of 1999 by Pastor Assuerio and his wife, Marian, at Paudalho. Pastor Assuerio was visiting family in Paudalho when he came across many children playing in the street. Assuerio ask them where their parents where, the answer was, they did not know. Assuerio found out the mother was selling herself for money and the father was a drunk. Assuerio was so overcome with compassion for the children he went to Tele and asked what can we do. The answer started something special to feed them and teach them the Bible. Living stones is that program that started at that time.

The kids come to the Living Stones location (also the Church site on Sunday) several days a week. If there is family around they too can get help at the church location. Some of the mothers are hired to cook for the kids. Living Stones is trying to employ local poor families in the running of the program. As the community learns of this organization committed to helping the children, many adults become interested and involved. Just as the children learn Bible stories and respond to the Savior’s invitation, so their parents are drawn to a relationship with Christ. These families become the founding members of the “Day One” church that grows from their love for each other built upon Jesus. This is a great way to reach the lost in a community with no hope.

Our Partnerships in Brazil

In October of 2014 SCC sent a team of 6 people to Northeast Brazil to form a partnership with Living Stones and a community in rural northeast Brazil.  The team visited several communities throwing Children's Day parties while getting to know Living Stones.  The result of the trip was the beginning of a relationship with a church Cajueiro Claro in the state of Pernambuco and a partnership with Living Stones, a branch of World Renewal Brazil.

In July of 2015 SCC sent a team of 7 people to Cajueiro Claro to train local leaders how to organize and run a Vacation Bible School.  The team trained, organized, and ran a VBS for children from Cajueiro Claro, Belem, and Mussurepe.

In April of 2016 a team of 3 went to see what everyday life looks like in Brazil. The team followed Caid and Rachel in their daily ministry. While in Brazil they visited several churches, sports ministries, educational programs, and public schools.
