Small groups are committed to creating a conversational environment where people can explore faith, build friendships & have fun as we pursue our mission to love God, love one another & serve the world. Small groups provide a network of support & care that helps us faithfully follow Jesus as we point our family, friends, neighbors & co-workers to Jesus.

When do small groups meet?

Many of our small groups meet for a semester: fall (September-November), spring (February-April) or summer (June-July). Other small groups meet throughout the school year (September-April).

When can I sign up for a small group?

Sign-up months are typically January, May & August.

Who can be a part of small groups?

Small groups are made up of people in all different seasons of life. They range in size from 12-20 people, meeting together weekly or bi-weekly to challenge, equip & prayerfully encourage one another. You can check out the group descriptions below to learn the specific purpose or focus of each small group.

Monday Groups

Basketball Outreach: If you love playing basketball, join us on Monday nights. We have a great time balling on the court & spending some time in God’s word at halftime. It’s a great place to invite friends, family & co-workers in our community who don’t know Jesus & need to experience the love of God’s family… plus some good old-fashioned fun! This spring, the gym will be open for basketball on the following dates: February 4th, February 18th, March 4th, March 18th, April 1st, April 15th, May 6th & May 20th.

Tuesday Groups

Organized Chaos, A Group for Moms: Join us for a night where moms get the chance to connect & support one another. Our vision is to grow together as parents & to be the solid voices that each of us needs speaking into our lives every week. No matter where you are in your walk with Jesus, we’d love to have you be a part of our organized chaos!

This group is led by Ashley Adams & Amanda Catt at SCC on Tuesdays @ 6:30pm during ROOTS.

Young Adults, 18-25: If you're a recent high school graduate up to age 25(ish), then this group is for you! You never know quite what to expect, but you do know that it'll be good!

This group is led by Brad and Jackie Davis at the Piersalls’ house (222 E. 425 North | Shelbyville, IN) on Tuesdays @ 7:00pm.

ROOTS: ROOTS is a program designed for K-5th graders to help them grow deeper in their faith. Currently we use the Action Bible curriculum, going straight through scripture. ROOTS starts back on September 4th on Tuesday evenings here at SCC from 6:30-8:00PM.

The Landing Zone: If you’re a teen (or know of a teen) who is struggling with life’s hurts, habits & hang-ups, then we’d love to have you come to the Landing Zone. We’re a community of people who offer a safe place to find hope, healing & freedom from troubles with drugs or alcohol.

Wednesday Groups

The Gospel of Mark (Francis Chan): Come join us for fellowship, food, video, discussion & prayer time. This is an in-depth study of The Gospel of Mark chronicles Jesus’s journey from Galilee to Jerusalem. Along the way, the Messiah gathers a ragged band of disciples. As crowds grow & dwindle on the road to Jerusalem, only a few stick by the Suffering Savior on the road of discipleship.
In this 11-part series, author & speaker Francis Chan invites us to walk with him along the ancient ways of the Master. Tracing the steps of Jesus & the Twelve through Israel, Francis explores the major themes of the Gospel of Mark & asks: Are we willing to take this journey to embrace discipleship? This study will spur you to go deeper in this walk with Christ. You’ll love the challenge!

Exodus, The Journey to Freedom: Join us as we follow along with our weekly Exodus message series. We’ll spend time praying together & discussing how God is calling us to process, apply & live out what we’re learning each week during our Sunday morning worship time.

GriefShare: Everyone experiences difficulties at some point. GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through those difficult times. You do not have to go through it alone.

This group is led by Patrick & Tanisa Bixler at SCC on Wednesdays @ 6:30pm.


The Middle: We have a team of adults & high school students who think that middle school kids are the coolest kids on earth!  Our team loves to spend time with middle schoolers, laugh, create new adventures & point them to Jesus every chance we can. We invite all students in 6th-8th grade to hang out with us at The Middle here at SCC on Wednesdays @ 6:30pm.

Thursday Groups

Higher Ground: Come join us for an uplifting time of worship & learning! We’ll start by singing a few hymns, and then we are going book by book through the Bible. We’re not following any particular order, just following where the Spirit leads. Come join us!

Coping Together: This is a support group for anyone loving someone who struggles with addiction. This group will give us a safe place to come together to share, encourage, pray for & pray with others going through the same types of experiences. No two paths are the same, but all the feelings associated with it are. Join us as we navigate this road together.

This group is led by Debby Whiteside on Thursdays @ 7:00pm at 14 W. Broadway.

A New View: If you struggle with drugs & alcohol, you’re not alone. We’re a faith-based support group that will help you leave your past behind. We’re a community of people who have overcome past addictions & desire to share their stories, provide tools & offer hope & encouragement. If you’re looking for a new you, try A New View.

Sunday Groups

Mens Group: Join us as we gather together as men to dive into God’s word, encourage one another & pray together each week. This spring, we’ll go through a variety of Bible study series.

This group is led by Rod Mohr at SCC on Sundays @ 6:30pm.

Senior High: When we talk about following Jesus by Loving God, Loving Others & Serving the World, high school students can do those things like no one else! We invite all students in 9th-12th grade to hang out with us at Senior Highhere at SCC on Sundays @ 6:30pm.
