Small groups are committed to creating a conversational environment where people can explore faith, build friendships & have fun as we be pursue our mission to love God, love one another & serve the world. Small groups provide a network of support & care that helps us faithfully follow Jesus as we point our family, friends, neighbors & co-workers to Jesus.

When do small groups meet?

Many of our small groups meet for a semester: fall (September-November), spring (February-April) or summer (June-July). Other small groups meet throughout the school year (September-April).

When can I sign up for a small group?

Sign-up months are typically January, May & August.

Who can be a part of small groups?

Small groups are made up of people in all different seasons of life. They range in size from 12-20 people, meeting together weekly or bi-weekly to challenge, equip & prayerfully encourage one another. You can check out the group descriptions below to learn the specific purpose or focus of each small group.

Grace, Truth & Favor: A life changing group that looks at how and why Jesus loves us. We so often think God looks at us the way we look at ourselves, but He doesn’t. Come and discover how much, and why, Gods love for you is far more powerful than you believe.

This group is led by Stephanie & Buddy Rickly & Merry Popplewell at 14 W. Broadway on Mondays @ 6:30pm starting February 18th.


Exodus, The Journey to Freedom: Join us as we follow along with our weekly Exodus sermon series. We’ll spend time praying together & discussing how God is calling us to process, apply & live out what we’re learning each week during our Sunday morning worship time.

Tuesday Groups


Growing as Christ’s Disciples:
In this fourth book of the Colossians 2:7 series, you will complete Bible studies on various aspects of being a disciple, memorize scripture about those characteristics, and learn ways to lead an effective Bible study. You will also be challenged to continue building relationships with unbelieving family and friends. The course will conclude with spending an extended time in prayer. This group is open to all who have completed the first 3 books in the Colossians 2:7 series.

This group is led by Ward & Kathy Horn on Tuesdays @ 6:30pm at SCC.


Uninvited: This women’s group is going through the series Uninvited (Lysa TerKeurst). In this 6-session video Bible study, Lysa helps women to explore the roots of rejection; the lies we believe as a result; and the truth about who God is, who we are, and what it looks like to live loved.

This group is led by Angi Elliott on Tuesdays @ 7:00pm at SCC.


Organized Chaos: A Group for Moms: Join us for a night where moms get the chance to connect & support one another. Our vision is to grow together as parents & to be the solid voices that each of us needs speaking into our lives every week. No matter where you are in your walk with Jesus, we’d love to have you be a part of our organized chaos!

This group is led by Ashley Adams & Amanda Catt at SCC on Tuesdays @ 6:30pm during ROOTS.


18-25 Group: If you're a recent high school graduate, up to age 25(ish), then this group is for you! You never know quite what to expect, but you do know that it'll be good!

This group is led by Brad and Jackie Davis at the Piersalls’ house (222 E. 425 North | Shelbyville, IN) on Tuesdays @ 7:00pm.

ROOTS: ROOTS is a program designed for K-5th graders to help them grow deeper in their faith. Currently we use the Action Bible curriculum, going straight through scripture. ROOTS starts back on September 4th on Tuesday evenings here at SCC from 6:30-8:00PM.

The Landing Zone: If you’re a teen (or know of a teen) who is struggling with life’s hurts, habit & hang-ups, then we’d love to have you come to the Landing Zone. We’re a community of people who offer a safe place to find hope, healing & freedom from troubles with drugs or alcohol.

Thursday Groups

Higher Ground: Come join us for an uplifting time of worship & learning! We’ll start by singing a few hymns, and then we are going book by book through the Bible. We’re not following any particular order, just following where the Spirit leads. Come join us!

Financial Peace University: FPU teaches God’s way of handling money through video teaching, class discussions & interactive small group activities. This plan will show you how to get ride of debt, manage your money, spend & save wisely & so much more! There is a $90 workbook & resource fee (partial scholarships available).

This group is led by Bruce Miller on Thursdays @ 7:00pm at SCC.

Coping Together: This is a support group for anyone loving someone who struggles with addiction. This group will give us a safe place to come together to share, encourage, pray for & pray with others going through the same types of experiences. No two paths are the same, but all the feelings associated with it are. Join us as we navigate this road together.

This group is led by Debby Whiteside on Thursdays @ 7:00pm at 14 W. Broadway.

Women’s Group: Digging Into The Bible is a group for women who desire to be in God’s Word every day. Reading the Bible shows us God’s character & His ultimate love for us... his sons & daughters. Come on this journey with other women as we dive into The Living Word together & press into Jesus.

This group is led by Marianne Memarian & Julie Johnson on Thursdays @ 6:30pm at the Johnsons’ (628 9th Street Shelbyville, IN 46176).

A New View: If you struggle with drugs & alcohol, you’re not alone. We’re a faith-based support group that will help you leave your past behind. We’re a community of people who have overcome past addictions & desire to share their stories, provide tools & offer hope & encouragement. If you’re looking for a new you, try A New View.

Friday Nights

Men’s Group: Glancing at Life, Gazing at God: As we jump into our series “The Book of Titus” with Chip Ingram, we’ll learn how to let the gospel take root in our lives so that it can produce the fruit of godliness within us. As we allow this to happen & then pass it along to others, the Church will stand in bright contrast to the darkness of the world. Who better to be the example for our culture than men?

This group is led by Rod Mohr at SCC on Sundays @ 6:30pm.
 

Senior High: When we talk about following Jesus by Loving God, Loving Others & Serving the World, high school students can do those things like no one else! We invite all students in 9th-12th grade to hang out with us at Senior Highhere at SCC on Sundays @ 6:30pm.
